What we say
ANNIE'S fruit bars are straps of 100% dried fruit from fresh pulp. They're all based on apple, with fruits like boysenberry, passionfruit or plum mixed in to vary the flavour. The pack states that they're free of sugar, but it'd be more accurate to say that there's no added sugar - more than half the product is fructose (fruit sugar).
Everyone, including kids, should aim to have two serves of fruit a day, and 'each bar equals 3-4 pieces of fruit', according to the pack. But as with any dried fruit, the sugar in Annies fruit bars is concentrated and can stick to your teeth. So while these bars can make a good alternative snack, make sure that fresh fruit stays on the menu.
